RBT: Initial Competency Assessment (In-Person or Remote)

To qualify for the Registered Behaviour Technician (RBT) certification by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB), all RBT applicants must demonstrate that they can competently perform the tasks required through the RBT Competency Assessment.

The Assessment

The Initial Competency Assessment is the next step in becoming certified as a Registered Behaviour Technician (RBT) after having completed the required 40-Hour RBT Training. To see if you are eligible for an assessment with us, please fill out our Contact Form by clicking here.

To pass the assessment, you must demonstrate that you can competently perform the tasks outlined on the RBT Initial Competency Assessment. The assessment approximately lasts two hours and is overseen by one of our certified BCBA assessors. The RBT Initial Competency Assessment evaluates your knowledge and implementation on the following sections:

  1. Measurement
  2. Assessment
  3. Skill Acquisition & Behavior Reduction
  4. Professionalism & Requirements

Once you have been approved for an Initial Competency Assessment and your order has been processed, a BACB certificant will be in contact with you regarding the next steps of your assessment.
