Introducing Our New Expert-Led Webinar Series

We’re excited to launch a new professional learning format! Rather than a single annual conference, we’ll be offering shorter, expert-led webinars throughout the year—designed to deliver in-depth insights, practical strategies, and more opportunities to connect with leading voices in the field of autism and communication support.

Nurture to Nourish: Nonintrusive Feeding Approaches to Help Children Thrive at Mealtime

Presented by Kimberley Zonneveld, PhD, R.B.A (Ont.), BCBA-D

Join Kimberely Zonneveld, PhD, R.B.A (Ont.), BCBA-D  for an evidence-informed workshop on Nonintrusive Feeding Approaches with autistic children. Learn practical, research-based strategies to assess and support feeding behaviours.

About the Session

This session will review pediatric feeding difficulties and a behavior-analytic framework for understanding how they develop and persist over time.
The presentation will emphasize nonintrusive, skill-building approaches to increase acceptance and intake among selective eaters while minimizing distress.
Attendees will learn practical strategies for promoting mealtime success, shaping early feeding skills, and coaching caregivers. The presenter will illustrate decision-making and troubleshooting through clinical cases and research examples from intake through outcome evaluation.

Participants will:

  • Describe the heterogeneity of pediatric feeding difficulties by identifying common feeding-related behaviour topographies (e.g., selectivity, refusal, expulsion, packing)

  • Describe the behaviour-analytic framework for pediatric feeding difficulties, including how antecedent and consequence variables may contribute to the development and maintenance of feeding difficulties

  • Identify core members of an interdisciplinary pediatric feeding team and describe their roles

  • Describe nonintrusive, skill-building interventions that aim to increase acceptance and consumption while minimizing distress and escalation

  • Describe interventions to shape early feeding skills

  • Describe strategies to coach caregivers to implement feeding interventions

This session is designed for clinicians, educators, and professionals supporting autistic children & those seeking practical tools and evidence-informed strategies for diverse clinical and educational settings.

Understanding and Supporting Gestalt Language Processing in Autistic Learners

Presented by Tracie Lindblad, M.Sc., SLP (Reg. CASLPO), M.Ed., BCBA

Join us for an applied, evidence-informed session with Tracie Lindblad—one of Canada’s most respected clinicians in both Speech-Language Pathology and Applied Behavior Analysis. With decades of cross-disciplinary experience, Tracie brings a unique perspective on communication development in autistic children

About the Session

This applied workshop provides clinicians with a comprehensive understanding of Gestalt Language Processing (GLP) and Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) in autistic children. Participants will learn to assess GLP stages, complete a component analysis of GLP, explore evidence-based interventions, and practice developing individualized goals through case scenarios. Emphasis will be placed on using evidence-based interventions and strategies to promote spontaneous, flexible communication while honouring each child’s unique language development pathway.

Participants will:

  • Learn the early history and current research supporting GLP
  • Explore all six stages of language development within the NLA framework
  • Analyze case examples to identify GLP phases and match strategies
  • Understand which evidence-based practices are embedded in GLP interventions
  • Gain tools for cross-disciplinary collaboration that enhances communication outcomes

This session is designed for clinicians (speech-language pathologists and behaviour analysts), educators and implementers (Communicative Disorders Assistant and instructor therapists) working with autistic children in clinical or educational settings.
