Providing Effective Supervision: Supervision Skills for New Supervisors

 

This course will provide new BCBA supervisors (i.e., who have been certified for less than one year) recommendations on how to achieve successful supervision both from a consulting supervisor and with supervisees. It will also describe best practices for ethical supervision and giving difficult feedback to supervisees and/or employees.

Course Description

This course is designed to help new BCBA supervisors navigate their new roles by providing effective and ethical supervision while maintaining successful supervisory relationships. It is designed specifically for individuals who have been BCBA certified for less than one year and will be providing supervision to individuals working towards RBT/BCaBA/BCBA designations.

Supervision requirements, recommendations for successful supervision, evaluating the outcomes of supervision, ethical supervision and how to give difficult feedback are all topics that will be discussed during this course.

 

Participants Will:

  • Understand the supervision requirements and responsibilities for BCBA supervisors and individuals working towards becoming certified
  • Identify steps required to ensure appropriate and positive supervisory relationships for supervision of new BCBA supervisors and supervisees.
  • Teach meaningful repertoires to all supervisees
  • Evaluate the effects of supervision
  • Give difficult feedback
  • Understand ethical behaviour for supervisors.

This content is intended for those who: are pursuing or are already qualified to provide BCBA supervision to individuals working towards RBT/BCaBA/BCBA designations. Specifically, this content is intended for new BCBA supervisors who have been certified for less than one year and require a consulting supervisor to oversee their current supervision.
